I recently finished my Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. My dissertation is titled, Adolescents Learning About Sexuality – Broadband Internet Access, Sexual Education, Moral Panics and Youth Citizenship. I interviewed fifty-one now young adults about ho
w and where they learned about sexuality exploring in particular the role the Internet played for them in this process. While transforming my dissertation into a book, I am also continuing to publish research from this project.
I am regularly teaching a variety of classes including Introduction to Sociology, Visual Sociology, as well as Sex, Gender and U.S. Society.
My primary areas of specialization are Gender, Sexuality, Visual Sociology, Youth Culture, Media, Technology, The Self, Social Psychology, Qualitative Research Methods, Sociology of the Body, and Citizenship. My secondary areas of interest are Social Control and Crime.
